Safety concerns us all!
Plant safety is the core element for safe and efficient production.
What does Plant Safety in the process industry mean?
A plant is safe when, for example:
- It has successfully fulfilled the state of the art within the scope of a plant safety check,
- The operators and responsible employees / third party protection have been instructed with regard to applicable industrial safety regulations,
- All security-relevant aspects have been already taken into account in detail during the planning stage
The legal framework for plant safety in process technology in Germany is defined by the Federal Emission Law in conjunction with the Major Accidents Ordinance. As a central instrument for determining measures to prevent and limit faults, the Accident Ordinance, for example, prescribes the creation of a safety concept for operating areas with basic duties and a safety report for operating areas with extended duties. Together with our colleagues within the TÜV NORD GROUP, we rely on many years of experience in the field of plant safety.
Plant safety from safety at work’s point of view
The central instrument for determining and evaluating hazards and defining protective measures is risk assessment on the basis of the Work Health and Safety Act and the Industrial Safety Ordinance. The requirements for this are specified in detail in the Ordinance on Hazardous Substances (GefStoffV) and the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV).
